In the soccer tournament in the Asian Games in Thailand, South Korea appears to be a certain qualifier for the second round after beating Kuwait by 2 goals to nil.

SYNOPSIS: From the early stages of the game, South Korea was in charge, but the first half of the match was without goals. South Korea in dark shorts kept Kuwait pinned back watched by a capacity crowd in the National Stadium in Bangkok. Many of the fans were visitors to the city for the wide range of sports featured in the Asian Games.

An early opportunity for South Korea was stopped at the goal mouth.

One of Kuwait's few chances to score followed an attack down the left side and a corner kick. But the movement lacked a clean finish.

South Korea kept the pressure on but continued to lack the ability to score a first-half goal. This attempt went well wide.

The second half was to see more action. From Kuwait's kick-off South Korea's dominance characterised the play.

The crowd and the South Koreans had to remain patient, even after a powerful and well aimed long shot. But the patience paid off in the 56th minute when South Korea's Ohsuck Jae took advantage of a rebound which followed a goal-mouth scramble.

A minute later Huv Jung Moo moved from inside the Kuwaiti 18-yard area and scored again for South Korea.
