    STEN LUNDIN (SWEDEN), RIDING A "LITO", CLINCHED THE 1961 WORLD MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP BY WINNING BOTH HEATS OF THE LUXEMBOURG GRAND PRIX, AUG. 13, AT ETTELBRUCK. SECOND IN THIS EVENT WAS MILOSLAV SOUCEK (CZECHOSLOVAKIA), ON AN "EBO" - AND IN THIRD PLACE WAS JOHN BURTON (BRITAIN), ON A "BSA".

    SIXTY-SIX COMPETITORS TOOK PART IN THE GRAND PRIX, NOW ONE OF LUXEMBOURG'S GREATEST SPORTING EVENTS. MOTOCROSS WAS FIRST HELD AT ETTELBRUCK IN 1949.

    COMPETITORS WERE FROM THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES: AUSTRIA, GERMANY, ITALY, BRITAIN, BELGIUM, HOLLAND, CZECHOSLOVAKIA, SWEDEN, DENMARK, SWITZERLAND, THE UNITED STATES, FRANCE AND AUSTRALIA.
