    Several hundred prostitutes from all over France gathered in Lyons on Wednesday(2 JULY)for a mass meeting to plan their campaign to end alleged police brutality.
    They also want their profession to be recognised.
    The meeting is the culmination of a month of sitins and other demonstrations by the prostitutes of France.
    Earlier on Wednesday several dozen prostitutes blocked the entrance to the country residence of President Valery Giscard d'Estaing in an effort to publicise their cause.
    Film actress Delphine Seyrig was among the notable sympathiser who attended the rally. She told newsman that she was glad to have been invited and that she supported the prostitutes' demands.She said that if only people knew the prostitutes' plight they'd get the support they need.
    A prostitute who didn't want to be named was asked whether she thought French public opinion was behind the prostitutes. She said she didn't think it was. But she made the point that French people well understood the need for prostitutes in their country. She added that all she wanted was to be recognised and her profession understood.
