    ARMY, NAVY AND AIRFORCE UNITS FROM THE SOVIET UNION, POLAND, CZECHOSLOVAKIA AND EAST GERMANY WERE REPRESENTED IN A PARADE IN WROCLAW, WEST POLAND, YESTERDAY (27 SEPTEMBER). WROCLAW WAS FORMERLY BRESLAU, IN TERRITORY TAKEN BY POLAND FROM GERMANY AFTER THE SECOND WORLD WAR.

    THE PARADE MARKED THE END OF WEEK-LONG WARSAW PACT EXERCISES, IN WHICH THE UNITS TOOK PART IN POLAND. OFFICIAL COMMUNIST PRESS REPORTS SAY THAT THE MANOEUVRES WERE THE BIGGEST IN POLAND SINCE THE SECOND WORLD WAR. CALLED 'ODER-NEISSE 69' AFTER TWO RIVERS ALONG THE POLISH WESTERN FRONTIER WITH WESTERN GERMANY, THEY WERE AIMED AT 'DEFENDING' POLAND.

    MINISTERS AND OFFICERS FROM ALL SEVEN WARSAW PACT STATES ATTENDED LAST NIGHT'S PARADE AT A SPORTS STADIUM. AMONG THEM WERE THE WARSAW PACT COMMANDER IN CHIEF, SOVIET MARSHAL IVAN YAKUBOVSKY, AND MR. STRZELECKI, MEMBER OF THE POLISH COMMUNIST PARTY'S POLITBURO. IN A SPEECH AT THE EVENT, MR. STRZELECKI SAID THAT THE CLIMATE WAS RIPENING FOR AN ALL-EUROPEAN SECURITY SYSTEM.
