  • Description

A week of English films in Moscow's Ydarnik Theatre marks a further step in stronger cultural ties between East and West. At the October 20 opening of this festival - fourth of its kind in the last four months - a capacity audience of 1,200 hailed Sir Laurence Olivier's Richard III with enthusiasm.

All seats were sold for the festival before it opened yet long queues formed outside the theatre and had to be turned away.

Among the British representatives were actress Kay Walsh, and directors Frank Launder and Ronald Neame. The films next go to Leningrad and Kiev.
