An eye-catching series of creations based on knickerbockers worn with long coats, stressed elegance and refinement, as did the floor-length, flared dresses with plunging neck-lines. But as the designers prepare the winter fashion scene, the girls of Rome are wearing only the tightest and flimsiest hot pants and see-through blouses. Their concern is still the summer.

Buyers were also shown some stunned evening wear--this multi-coloured flared dress is another return to the classics.
Fontana fashions also had their first showing on Sunday. Matching hats and suits are going to be one of winter's attractions.

But outside, it's a different store. It's hot, and winter fashions are far away. The girls of rome in summer are more concerned with the present. Short skirts, light slacks and hot pants are worn everywhere.
