Background: At a forty hectare (100 acres) site about ten kilometres (six miles) east of Algiers preparations are nearing completion for the seventh international Algerian fair. The site of the air and its 23 national pavilions is being built by the Algerians in collaboration with the People's Republic of China.
Work on the coastal site -- called "Pins Maritimes" -- began in November 1968 and now the Algerian and Chinese workers are within sight of the completion of their work. President Boumedienne will cut the traditional green and white ribbon to open the fair on September 11.
Twenty-three nations will be represented by pavilions at the fair: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, North Korea, Cuba, Spain, France, Hungary, Iraq, Italy, Kuwait, Morocco, Holland, UAR, West Germany, East Germany, Rumania, Czechoslovakia, Syria, USSR and Yugoslavia. There is also a separate pavilion representing Palestinian Liberation Organisations.
