Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Mr. Omar Al-Sakkaf, concluded his tour of European nations with a visit to Rome this week.
When he arrived there on Monday (3 December), he told reporters that if there was na energy crisis in the world, it was not the fault of the Arabs, but of those who caused the crisis in the Middle East.
Mr. Al-Sakkaf Added, "oil is our only weapon and we are using it to make everyone understand that the Arabs have expected much and have had much patience, but now that patience has been exhausted."
On Wednesday (5 December), the final day of his visit to Italy, the Saudi foreign Minister met the country's Prime Minister, S. Mariano Rumor. Also present at the meeting, the Italian Foreign Minister, S. Aldo Moro, and Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Italy.
Italy, seriously affected by the Arab oil cut-back, has joined other European nations in imposing a ban on Sunday motoring, as well as other, drasite, measures to save on fuel.
After his European tour, Mr. Al-Sakkaf told newsmen at Beirut Airport on Wednesday that the Arabs had resorted to using oil as a weapon after all others had failed.
