TRANSCRIPT: HAMILTON: "Even as a schoolboy John Lennon lived for music. At first it was skiffle.

"Then came concerts at a dingy basement club in Liverpool. By the late fifties, the nucleus of the Beatles was established.

"But at that stage they were singing other people's songs. (Music) Within two years of Brian Epstein taking over as their manager, a new phenomenon was sweeping across the country--Beatlemania.

"When flower-power arrived the Beatles appeared on the first world-wide TV satellite.

"Lennon began his second marriage by spending his entire honeymoon with Yoko Ono in bed, as a public demonstration against violence."

SEQ. 9: LENNON: "It's still where I like to be. It's still Paris or Rome to me like they used to be thousands of years ago, and I want to be here. I want to be able to be here and be in England and France or travel wherever I want. I don't expect to be, you know, hassled unless I'm going to Hungary or something, or Czechoslovakian then I'd expect it."

REPORTER: "Your defence must be costing you a lot of money."

    LENNON:"Yes."

    REPORTER: "Is it worth it?"

    LENNON: "It will be."
