The Prime Minister of North Rhine/Westphalia, in West Germany, Mr Heinz Kuhn, is in Uganda on a three-day visit as a guest of the Milton Obote Foundation.
The Prime Minister of North Rhine/Westphalia, in West Germany, Mr Heinz Kuhn, is in Uganda on a three-day visit as a guest of the Milton Obote Foundation. He is making the visit in his capacity as the Governor of the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation and on Friday (July 17) he paid a courtesy call on Dr. Obote, the President of Uganda.
The Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Milton Obote Foundation ??? share the same aims and activities, and the Ugandan foundation receives a lot of assistance from Mr Kuhn's foundation.
Mr Kuhn visited Dr. Obote at the President's offices in the a Parliamentary building in Kampala. Accompanying Mr Kuhn was the German Ambassador to Uganda, Mr Hands Eick, and Mr Siegfried bangert -- the Director of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
The visitors met the Governors from the Milton Obote Foundation: Mr Singh, Mr Kironde and Mr Kalema.
At the meeting, Dr. Obote was presented with a silver tray by the visiting Prime Minister. In return, President Obote presented Mr Kuhn with a leopard skin and a handbag for his wife. The President also presented Mr Bangert with an elephant's foot.
The West German have been visiting projects of the Milton Obote Foundation. Their first stop was at Busia where they saw a twenty-acre site on which an Adult Education Institute is to be built. Later they saw a number of publications being printed at the Uganda Press Trust, Milton bote Foundation. It will house a clinic, library, the Press Trust and a Welfare Centre for Industrial workers.
