    THE SECOND CONFERENCE OF INFORMATION MINISTERS FROM FRENCH SPEAKING AFRICAN COUNTRIES OPENED IN PARIS ON TUESDAY (21 APRIL).

    THE MEETING FOLLOWED A CONFERENCE IN PARIS IN 1968. THE DELEGATES FROM SIXTEEN AFRICAN STATES AND MADAGASCAR WERE ADDRESSED BY THE FRENCH SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS. TWO MAJOR TOPICS UNDER DISCUSSION AT THE CONFERENCE WERE THE ROLE OF INFORMATION AGENCIES -- RADIO, TELEVISION, NEWSPAPERS AND PUBLIC INFORMATION SERVICES; AND THE TECHNIQUES AND FUTURE OF NEWS FILM SERVICES IN AFRICA.

    REPRESENTATIVES OF FRANCE'S RADIO AND TELEVISION SERVICE WERE ALSO PRESENT TO DISCUSS MUTUAL PROBLEMS WITH THE AFRICAN DELEGATES.

    THE TWO DAY CONFERENCE IS DUE TO END ON WEDNESDAY (22 APRIL).
