    THE WHOLE HOUSE WAS HEAVY WITH THEIR SCENT. MR. NEHRU'S HEAD RESTED ON A WHITE PILLOW, ABOUT HIM CLOTH OF SAFFRON, WHITE AND GREEN, THE NATIONAL COLOURS. ON HIS FACE, A HINDU MARK OF RED SANDALWOOD PASTE.

    FRAGANT JASMINE FLOWERS WERE SCATTERED ABOUT THE HALL AS HE WAS SET DOWN. AMONG THE MEMBERS OF HIS FAMILY ... HIS ONLY DAUGHTERS, MRS. INDIRA GANDHI, HIS SISTERS, MRS. PANDIT AND MRS. KRISHNA HUTHEESINGH.
