The battle in question was the \'Channel Dash\' during broad daylight on 12th February 1942.
The German capital ships were Scharnhorst, Gneisenau and Prinz Eugen. MTB 44, shown at 2 mins in the clip, was part of the 6th MTB Flotilla based in Dover. The first interviewee is possibly Lieutenant-Commander Pumphrey RN(1910-94), Senior Officer leading the Flotilla. The second speaker looks like a RN Lieutenant, and may be Lt Saunders in command of the later-arriving MGB 43 or another.
