The Geneva conference appears to be almost at an end. The four Foreign Ministers have agreed to make every effort to finish their work by next Wednesday. Today, Mr. Gromyko had lunch with Mr. Herter. But, our diplomatic correspondent says, the four hours of talks that followed were entirely inconclusive. There was no progress of any kind. The discussion seems to have turned on the question of Berlin, and the Russians stood firm on what was essentially their position of five weeks ago. Mr. Herter is due to fly home to the United States tomorrow week.
