  • Description

ARMED INDONESIAN TROOPS ON MONDAY (12 JUNE) CORDONED OFF THE AMERICAN EMBASSY AND THE HOME OF THE AMERICAN AMBASSADOR, MR. MARSHALL GREEN, IN DJAKARTA DURING A DEMONSTRATION BY STUDENTS. THE DEMONSTRATION FOLLOWED A MASS STUDENT RALLY IN A PARK OUTSIDE THE AMBASSADOR'S RESIDENCE.

THE STUDENTS ARRIVED AT THE EMBASSY BY BUS. WAVING CLENCHED FISTS THEY SHOUTED "CRUSH AMERICAN AND BRITISH IMPERIALISM." STUDENT LEADERS URGED THE DEMONSTRATORS NOT TO CAUSE TROUBLE.

SEVERAL OF THE LEADERS LATER PRESENTED A NOTE TO MR. GREEN IN HIS OFFICE ACCUSING THE UNITED STATES OF HELPING ISRAEL AND PLAYING A PROVOCATIVE ROLE IN THE MIDDLE EAST.

EARLIER THE LEADERS TOLD THE DEMONSTRATORS THAT INDONESIAN MOSLEMS SHOULD BE READY TO "ENTER THE SACRED WAR AGAINST THE JEWS, ENEMIES OF ALL ISLAM".
