    This official U.S. Air Force film released on May 21 by the U.S. Department of Defence shows static tests being carried out at Fort Hood, Texas, on Thursday 20 May to determine and evaluate the correct procedures necessary for deploying Army Combat equipment aboard Air Force C-5 "Galaxy" aircraft. The tests were conducted by units of the Army's 2nd Armoured Division from Fort Hood, and the Military Airlift Command's 437th Military Airlift Wing from Charleston in South Caroline. Test operations were spread over a period of three days, and loads typical of a tank battalion ware loaded, tied down, and unloaded under varying conditions.

    SYNOPSIS: U.S. Army tanks and other combat equipment were loaded aboard Air Force C-5 "Galaxy" aircraft in three days of static tests at Fort Hood in Texas last week.

    The tests were carried out by personnel of the Army's 2nd Armoured Division, and the Military Airlift Command's 437th Wing from Charleston. They were to determine and evaluate the correct procedures necessary for loading and unloading the equipment in an out of Galaxy aircraft.

    After a thorough check of each step of the loading operations, the aircraft crewmen carefully secured the tanks inside the Galaxy.

    With its huge payload secure inside the C-5 Galaxy lifts its ramp and lowers its nose section prior to departure.
