King Feisal of Saudi Arabia started a three day official visit to Washington yesterday (Thursday) by appealing to President Nixon to help heal Middle East differences and establish better relations in the area. At a red-carpet White House reception, the King urged President Nixon to give his attention to "aggression" by Israel.

SYNOPSIS: A red-carpet welcome in Washington awaited King Feisal of Saudi Arabia at the start of a three-day official visit to the United States on Thursday. President Nixon led the reception for King Feisal, who last visited the United States in 1966.

After an exchange of greetings, the two leaders stood side by side on a platform on the White House lawn. There President Nixon stated that he looked forward to King Feisal's advice towards achieving a lasting Middle East peace. The King replied by declaring that certain factors had disrupted previous good relations between the United States and Arab nations. He hoped to see the former friendship re-established. But, he added, the President and his country would first have to turn their attention to the problem of what he called Israeli aggression.

The two leaders moved into the White House for a private session of talks at which the King was expected to reinforce his earlier pleas for an end of the occupation of Arab holy places and the subjugation of Arab peoples.
