Background: Former Supreme Court judge, Manuel Arauz Castex, was sworn in as Argentina's new Foreign Minister by interim President Intalo Luder in Buenos Aires on Thursday (2 October).
His appointment is the latest in a series of cabinet re-shuffles.
Senor Angel Robledo had been the acting Foreign Minister from 11 August until 15 September when he switched to the Interior Ministry.
Senor Castex, a 60-year-old Peronist, held a senior post in the Justice Ministry in 1948-9, during General Juan Peron's first Presidency. He was a Supreme Court judge in 1973 and 1974.
The new appointment strengthened speculation that President Luder intends to be more than a caretaker. He first showed this when he re-shuffled Maria Estela Peron's cabinet within two days of taking office.
It also gave some strength to rumours that Senor Peron would not be returning from her holiday in the Cordoba Hills as early as expected.
It's thought she may prolong her break in order to give Senor Luder more time to initiate Government policies to combat Argentina's economic crisis and violence by both left and right wing extremists.
