Background: About 8,000 demonstrators from all over Britain marched through Birmingham yesterday (Sunday) during a new wave of protest against the legalisation of abortions. Marches said they were appalled by last year's total of 80,000 abortions in the country. And their protest had been given impetus by the weekend news that a 12-year-old girl had received an abortion in Birmingham. Labour Member of Parliament Leo Abse, who led the march, wants medical authorities to investigate how the case came to be publicised.
