    IN OVERCROWDED HONG KONG, HUNDREDS OF CHINESE LIVING IN JUNKS ARE BEING HELPED BY AMERICAN SAILORS -- THE CREW OF THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER "HANCOCK".EACH WEEK, THE SAILORS GIVE PART OF THEIR PAY TO BUY SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT FOR A FLOATING HOSPITAL THAT CARES FOR THE SICK OF TYPHOON HARBOUR.

    THE HOSPITAL BOAT ITSELF HAS MANY USES.OWNED AND RUN BY DR.JAMES TURPIN AND HIS WIFE, IT ALSO SERVES THEM AS HOME, OFFICES AND LABORATORY.TO ASSIST THEM IN THEIR WORK, THEY HAVE THE SERVICES OF TWO CHINESE DOCTORS AND THREE LOCAL NURSES.

    LIKE ANY MEDICAL PRACTICE, DR.AND MRS.TURPIN MAKE THEIR DAILY ROUNDS, SEEING PATIENTS IN THEIR JUNKS WHO ARE TOO ILL OR TOO OLD TO VISIT THE HOSPITAL.IT'S INTERNATIONAL AID ON A PERSONAL LEVEL -- AND A GENEROUS IDEA BY AMERICAN SAILORS.
