Most people find golf a difficult enough game with two arms. Mario Rios of Uruguay has only his left arm but he has become a champion.
Golf requires considerable control in the swing and a great deal of frustrating practice to strike the ball consistently straight and accurately. Mario admits he found the game difficult at first and it took him a great deal of effort to get to play the game properly but he says his enthusiasm and will helped him a lot.
Mario started work as a caddie at the age of six at a golf club in the Uruguayan capital Montevideo. He said he learned by watching others play. He practised at first in a small field near his home.
Mario is entirely self taught. Now he is one of the best professional golfers in Uruguay. He has already received invitations to play in Brazil and the United States.
