  • Description

Political commentators and cartoonists have extended themselves over the United States' so-called 'Watergate Affair' and the difficulties it has caused President Nixon. Now it is the turn of playwright David Edgar.

London will soon see the first night of Edgar's play -- a spoof on Shakespeare's 'Richard III' -- called 'Dick Deterred, or Would You Buy a Used Horse from This Man'
Edgar found that he could easily transpose Shakespeare's basic plot to the Watergate scandal. He has retained the original cast and style of language, merely adapting the sequence of events to encompass the series of events that have dominated American headlines for sixteen months.

Visnews visited the 'Bush Theater' in west London while rehearsals were in progress and interviewed author david Edgar, who hopes to take the production to a major London theater and then on to New York.
