    Background: On the second day of his three-day visit to Cyprus, Greek Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou attended two poignant ceremonies -- laying a wreath at the tomb of the late President Makarios on Troodos Mountain and unveiling a war memorial in honour of Greek soldiers who died during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. Mr. Papandreou's visit to the dividend island was the first by a Greek Prime minister since Cyprus won independence 22 years ago and he was given an enthusiastic welcome by Greek Cypriots wherever he went.
