    The African Development Bank has extended a loan of 1,280 million CFA francs (GBP2,900,000 sterling) to the Somali Democratic Republic to extend health facilities in the Dujumba region.

    SYNOPSIS: The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the Development Bank in Abidjan, the capital of the Ivory Coast. The leader of the Bank's negotiators, was Mr. Pascal Louis Negre, the Vice-President of the Bank.

    The Somalian delegation was led by Mr. Abdinur Yusuf, the Somalian ambassador to Senegal. The money is being used for a project which is part of the Somali Government's general plan of recovery from the effects of the disastrous drought in 1973 and 1974. It will finance the entire foreign exchange cost and a portion of the local cost of the Dujumba project. It will provide for the construction of a new hospital in the area and five health centres. The loan will be repaid over 50 years, including a 10 year grace period.
