Background: This film show three convicts -- two of them gagged and in straight-jackets -- being escorted into a courtroom in Pittsburgh. The two were gagged and placed in straight-jackets to stop their outbursts during their trial. The convict that was not gagged -- Herbert Langnef -- had threatened to kill the judge (no reason was given why he wasn't placed in a straight jacket) The dark haired short fellow is named Dominick Codispodinia. The tall slim fellow is named Richard Mayberry. The three were on trial for trying to break out of the Western State Correctional Institute in Pittsburgh....on June 27th, 1965.The three men were sentenced Monday (Dec. 12). Herbert Langnef who was serving a 5 to 10 year term got an added 26 to 50 years; Codispodinia who was serving a 12 to 30 year term got an added 31 to 62 year term; and Richard Mayberry who was serving a 12 to 17 year term got a 27 to 54 year term.All three were jailed for armed robbery.The same trio had taken part in a successful prison break on November 26th, 1966....and were caught with three other escapees in a forest near Pittsburgh... a day later. They will be tried for this too.
