Background: The eight joint session of the Chamber of People and the Chamber of Nations of the Federal Parliament was opened this morning in the Spanish Hall of Prague Castle. The chairman of the Federal Parliament, Professor Dalibor Hanes, greeted the members and the candidates of the Praesidium of the central committee of the Czechoslovak Communist Party, the members of the Czechoslovak government lead by dr. Lubomir Strougal, and the representatives of the national governments and the parties joined in the National Front, who take part in the session. Dalibor Hanes then talked about the main tasks of the Federal Parliament after the fourteenth congress of the Czechoslovak Communist Party.

The session will further discuss the draft of the law about the elections to the Federal Parliament, the state budget of the Federation for the year 1970, a draft of the law about a modification of the state budget for the year 1971, presented by the government, and some other topics.
