    Australian High Commissioner in London, Sir Eric Harrison, opened an exhibition of paintings by six West Australian artists at the Commonwealth Institute, London, November 5.

    The exhibition consists of 54 oils and water colours. Landscapes and scenes of West Australian life predominate. They are by Geoffrey Allen, art teacher at Scotch College; Elizabeth Blair Barber, former student at the Melbourne National Gallery and Heatherley Art School, London; Allon Cook, specialist in the representation of Australian landscape and light; and Cyril Lander, Fellow of the Royal South Australian Society of Arts.

    Portraits and still-life are by Lorna Prendiville, exhibitor in Melbourne, London and Perth. Imagery is by Ernest Philpot, winner of the Claude Hotchin Landscape Prize (1948) and Art Gallery of West Australia Prize (1952).
