In southern Lebanon, the only Israeli prisoner in the hands of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) will face trial by a guerrilla tribunal as a war criminal. A PLO spokesman announced this on Thursday (27 April) from the undisclosed location where they are holding the prisoner, 24-year-old private Abraham Nessim Amram.

SYNOPSIS: Private Amram was captured in an ambush on April the 4th at the village of Ras El-Ain, and has since been held at this secret site in the region. He was escorted before newsmen and photographers by guerrillas from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC).

The Palestinians have set down several indictments against the soldier. These include charges of taking part in a war against the Arabs, infiltrating Palestinian positions, and entering Lebanese soil to commit aggression against Palestinian and Lebanese peoples. The PLO spokesman would not say if these charges carried a specific penalty.
