PRISONER: "How are you? You are worried about me. I am okay. I sleep well. I am wounded, but it is not(indistinct).

Nobody hurt me. I want just. to return to my home, that's the way about it. You have to ask your government to send me (indistinct). Goodbye, good to see you. I hope that I can see you.

The spokesman refused to say when and where the field trial would be staged, or if it would be public. He did say that Private Amram would enjoy what he called 'unbridled rights as a human being and prisoner of war'.

The PLO spokesman said international observers and defence lawyers would be permitted to attend. He said guerrilla investigators were following the theory that Private Amram took part in the Israeli invasion of southern Lebanon of 15 March as a military intelligence agent, and not as a regular combatant. The spokesman discounted speculation that the PFLP-GC would arrange a swap of prisoners of war with the Israelis through the International Red Cross.

Background: In southern Lebanon, the only Israeli prisoner in the hands of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) will face trial by a guerrilla tribunal as a war criminal. A PLO spokesman announced this on Thursday (27 April) from the undisclosed location where they are holding the prisoner, 24-year-old private Abraham Nessim Amram.

SYNOPSIS: Private Amram was captured in an ambush on April the 4th at the village of Ras El-Ain, and has since been held at this secret site in the region. He was escorted before newsmen and photographers by guerrillas from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC).

The Palestinians have set down several indictments against the soldier. These include charges of taking part in a war against the Arabs, infiltrating Palestinian positions, and entering Lebanese soil to commit aggression against Palestinian and Lebanese peoples. The PLO spokesman would not say if these charges carried a specific penalty.
