  • Description

Two Englishmen, Les Archer on a Norton and Dave Curtis on a Matchless, swept away the Continental opposition at the Moto-Cross race at Montreuil, Paris, on Sunday, 27th.April.

Competing in the opening meeting of the season, on the difficult ch???-pit circuit, the British pair broke away from the bunch soon after the start, and their only challenger was Gilbert Brassine, one of the premier French riders, who made up a great deal ground and very nearly caught Curtis in the closing laps. Archer made obtain of winning by some exciting riding, especially on the most difficult part of the circuit, when he drove his machine near top speed.

Archer, Curtis and Brassine were well and truly home, in that order, before the next two riders, Chuchart and Charrier---- both from France---crossed the line, fourth and fifth respectively.

If British riders can maintain this standard of riding throughout this Series of Moto-Cross Championships they might again end the season as the Champion Nation.
