Major Abdul Salam Ahmed Jalloud, the Prime Minister of the Libyan Jamahiriyah has been meeting Indian government leaders during his official visit to India. Major Jalloud headed a delegation of Libyan officials, touring the country and holding talks wit Indian politicians on increased co-operation between Libya and India. On Tuesday (18 July) Major Jalloud met the Indian Prime Minister Morarji Desai and opened the formal round of talks between the two countries.
SYNOPSIS: Major Jalloud, seated on the left, discussed various development projects financed by India in Libya, wit Mr. Desai. There is a growing number of Indian technicians and engineers working in Libya and the two leaders talked about the possibility of further scientific and industrial co-operation. The Libyan delegation were expected to visit factories and agricultural schemes throughout the country -- including a nuclear research centre -- before leaving India on the 25th of July.
The visit of the Libyan delegatio came just a few weeks after Iraqi Vice-President, Taha Moheddin Maruf, met Indian leaders during a three-day official visit and Turkish Foreign Minister, Gunduz Ockun held talks with the Indian government during his tour of India and Pakistan.
