    The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation's Seven Nation Nuclear Planning Group met in London on Thursday (26 October) to review policies for Western Europe's defence against any Soviet aggression. Defence Ministers from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Turkey and the United States joined their British counterparts for the two-day top secret discussions.

    The Nuclear Planning Group of NATO meets twice a year in a continuous study of political and practical guidelines for the defensive use of tactical or battlefield nuclear weapons as part of the organisation's flexible response policy to stop aggression.

    The Defence Ministers who attended the meeting were Mr. Melvin Laird of the United States, Mr. Paul Van Den Boaynants of Belgium, Mr. R Kjald Glesan of Denmark, Georg Labor of West Germany, Signor Mario Tanassi of Italy, Mr. Mohmet Izmen of Turkey and Lord Carrington of Britain. Ambassadors of the NATO countries belonging to the Nuclear Planning Group also attended the meeting.
