Background: In Brunei, the royal wedding between His Highness the Sultan's sister, Princess Amal nasiban and Pengiran Kamarulzaman was colourfully held on Thursday (12 July).
A seventeen gun salute boomed across the state capital as the bridegroom took his place beside his bride - for the first time - at the throne room of the Royal Palace in Bandar Seri Begawan.
The wedding ceremony was in keeping with centuries of Royal Malay tradition and ended with the Berinai ceremony in the evening.
Sultan led royalty and State members in offering the Inai leaves in a centuries old tradition.
Apart from Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and other royal family, the traditional wedding was also attended by dignitaries from abroad, including the Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew and Malaysian Prime Minister Hussein Onn.
Later Sultan and the other royal family members along with state and overseas dignitaries went to the home of bridegroom for a similar ceremony.
The bridegroom is a civil engineer with the Government public works department.
