SCRIPTING: The famous Minh Mag tomb area. south-west of Hue is threatened. The Emperor Minh Mang was the most famous of the Nguyon Dynasty. Under his rule Viet-Nam was united and prosperous, and militarily strong. He sent troops south, and the conquered the southern part of what now is South Viet-Nam. Minh Mang ruled his domain from the Imperial Capital of Hue.

The area is still a haven of peaceful (quietitude??) and it is hard to imagine that war rages within several miles of the famous emperor's tomb, sometimes coming as close as the embattled and contested road running just outside the wall surrounding the garden/tomb area.

It is almost certain that any attack(s) on due would include at least one prong from the south-west, where the hills come down to, and in fact surround the Minh Manh Tomb, only a few miles from the old capital. The tomb/shrine area is heavily-wooded, and would provide ideal cover and protection for North ?Vietnamese troops should they manage to occupy it. There is plenty of water - prime requisite for any occupying troops. South Vietnamese forces would be loathe to attack the tomb area, and they hold it in guest respect. The Minh Mang tombs might be said to be 'beloved' by the Vietnamese, and is a favourite place for these who want to rest, think, and 'communicate' with ......? - themselves?
