  • Description

A hydro-electric dam at Djin-Djin, Algeria, was inaugurated by Paul Delouvrier, French Government civil administrator in Algeria, during official celebrations this month to mark the second anniversary of the five-year Constantine Plan for the economic development of Algeria.

The dam wall is 80 metres high, 510 metres long. Captured water first supplies a power station at the foot of the dam, then runs through conduits for 14 kilometres to an underground hydro-plant at Mansouria. The entire project will be completed in about eight months.
