    ACCOMPANIED BY HIS WIFE AND SENIOR MEMBERS OF THE MINISTRY OF TRADE, DOCTOR BUSIA WAS GREETED ON HIS ARRIVAL BY THE PLANT'S COMMERCIAL MANAGER, MR. GORDON BROWN.

    THE PRIME MINISTER'S PARTY INSPECTED WORK IN THE COTTON GINNERY SECTION AND WERE LATER TAKEN ON A TOUR OF THE WEAVING AND PACKING DEPARTMENTS WHERE SEVERAL HUNDRED SALES OF GREY BAFT WAS PACKED READY FOR THE MARKET.

    THE JUAPONG TEXTILES LIMITED IS A JOINT STATE AND PRIVATE VENTURE, WITH THE GOVERNMENT HOLDING 51-PERCENT OF THE SHARES. THE GHANA NATIONAL TRADING CORPORATION AND THE UNITED AFRICAN COMPANY EACH HAS 24 1/2-PERCENT. THE FACTORY WHICH COST OVER TWO-MILLION NEW CEDIS (APPROX. 900-THOUSAND POUNDS STERLING) TO ESTABLISH, EMPLOYS 12-HUNDRED PEOPLE. IT WAS OPENED IN 1965 AND CAN PRODUCE ABOUT 1.5 MILLION YARDS OF GREY BAFT A MONTH.
