  • Description

Expensive limousines were crushed and buckled when the boom of a giant crane, working on Burlington Skyway Bridge, near Hamilton, Ontario, crashed to the ground. Operator of the crane, who was slightly injured, jumped clear before the boom fell.

Seven cars were parked below this part of the multi-million dollar bridge. The boom fell in line along them, right across the driving seats, but all cars were unoccupied. Anyone in them would certainly have been killed.

The huge crane, working high on the bridge, was being moved when the boom came loose and plunged. Overall damage was estimated at 15,000 dollars.
