Fifteen nations are attending the talks and they've been joined by representatives from international food research organisations. Basides the drought and the fate of the nomads, the conference will also be discussing a new phase of the agricultural revolution in Algeria. This revolves around sheep herders and efforts to make them stop wandering and start cultivating. To give them land to cultivate, the Algerian Government has drawn up plans to turn arid land into fertile farming country. The plan involves the construction of a huge dam.
