    THE UGANDAN PRIME MINISTER, DR.MILTON OBOTE, TONIGHT (TUESDAY) ENDS HIS TWO-DAY OFFICIAL VISIT TO JAPAN.YESTERDAY IN TOKYO, HE TOURED ONE OF JAPAN'S BIGGEST FACTORIES, THE TOSHIBA ELECTRONICS PLANT, AND IN THE EVENING PAID A COURTESY CALL ON THE JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER, MR.EISAKU SATO.

    DR.OBOTE SPENT AN HOUR WITH MR.SATO, SEEKING JAPANESE CO-OPERATION IN THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF UGANDA.A STATEMENT AFTERWARDS SAID BOTH LEADERS HOPED FOR AN INCREASE IN TRADE BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES.TO HELP CORRECT UGANDA'S UNFAVOURABLE TRADE POSITION WITH JAPAN, THE TOKYO GOVERNMENT HAS DECIDED TO EXTEND TEN MILLION UNITED STATES DOLLARS WORTH OF CREDIT TO EAST AFRICA.

    EARLIER IN THE DAY, THE UGANDAN PREMIER HAD A LOOK AT SOME OF THE VAST TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS JAPAN HAS MADE SINCE WORLD WAR TWO.TOSHIBA IS THE COUNTRY'S BIGGEST MANUFACTURER OF ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS, RANGING FROM TRANSISTOR RADIOS TO HUGE TURBINE ENGINES.
