TRANSCRIPT: CHARLES AMUNDSON: "The game matched the teams with the best offensive and defensive records in the N.H.L. Offence won out on this night, as Carol Vadnais of the Bruins skated the length of the ice to score unassisted. The one-nothing lead held through the first period.

"Esposito scored his two goals in a four-minute span of the second period. His second was a typical "Espo" goal...he was stationed just outside the L.A. crease and knocked in a rebound off a Dallas Smith shot. Esposito has thirty-seven goals in thirty-seven games.

"The Kings, whose loss was only their sixth in thirty-seven games, came back with two goals of their own in the second period. Bob Berry cut the margin to one when he tipped in Don Kannegiesser's power-play blast. The Kings were outshot forty-four to twenty-six.

"Boston put it away in the third period to draw within five points of Buffalo in their division. First Bobby Schmautz fired a fifty-footer which got by King Goalie "Rogie" Vachon to make the score four to two. Then the Bruins' power play clicked....Greg Sheppard was in a position to the right of Vachon, and knocked L.A. out of a tie with Montreal in their division."
