Tickets for the 1978 World Cup Soccer matches, to played in Argentina next June, have been eagerly snapped up by enthusiastic fans. The first batch of 22 thousand tickets was released last Saturday (September 17) in Buenos Aries. Yet barely 24 hours before, the army seized sophisticated electronic equipment designed to disrupt television coverage, which will be sold internationally.

SYNOPSIS: Soccer supporters queued all night to be sure of getting a ticket which were on sale at the headquarters of the National Bank in Buenos Aries, and at the bank's headquarters throughout Argentina. World Cup officials said that 22,000 tickets were sold on the first day. The tickets for the opening final matches have already been sold.

The 1878 series of World Cup games is being eagerly awaited in Argentina - and the country's ability to stage the contest has become a matter of national pride. A new colour television centre is being built in Buenos Aries to provide colour television coverage for the rest of the world, although people inside Argentina must be contented with only black and white broadcasts.

But there is concern that the series will be marred by political demonstrations and violence. Already the army has seized seven radio
transmitter which all???dly were to be used by left wing guerrillas so as to disrupt the international television coverage. The transmitters were found in a raid on a guerrilla hideout in the suburbs of Buenos Aries, and apparently were the first o???fifty to be built at a cost of ten million dollars.
