  • Description

Four villagers were killed and another five wounded on Monday (13 May) when Israeli Phantom jets made a 20-minute strike against Arab guerrilla bases in Southern Lebanon. The victims included a woman and her two young children. A farmer was also killed. All were from the village of Kfair, which lies almost in the shadow of Mount Hermon, on the Israeli border.

One house was destroyed in the raid and another four damaged. Soon afterwards, United Nations observers were in Kfair, assessing and recording the extent of the damage.

An Israeli military spokesman said all the aircraft returned from the raid, which was in the area of Lebanon known as Fatahland.

The strike came as United States Secretary of State, Dr. Henry Kissinger, began new talks in Jerusalem on the separation of Israeli and Syrian troops on the Golan Heights front.
