    The mahogany-lined Caucus room of the old Senate Office in Washington becomes the focal point of world attention again on Thursday (17 May) when it becomes the stage for the most critical investigation in modern United States history -- Watergate.

    It was in this same room that the late John F. Kennedy announced his intention to seek election as President of the United States, and in summer 1972, Thomas Eagleton was in the Caucus r???m when he announced his intention to resign from the Democratic P???ty ticket.

    And now, it's Watergate. The scandal that's almost household around the world. Its effects have been shattering. From the firing of top Presidential men to new rumbles of the United States dollar.

    The proceedings in the Caucus room will be televised around the world. President Nixon said when he announced the investigation that he wanted its findings to be made public... that he wanted it to be fair, hon???t, and tough.

    The man heading the investigation is Senator Sam Ervin.
