    Background: England started the fourth test match against the West Indies at Georgetown, Britain Guiana, Mar 9, leading the series by one match. The English team won the toss for the fourth time and decided to bet. Captain Cowdrey opened the batting with Pullar.

    On the fifth day, the West Indies captain declared innings closed at 402 runs for eight wickets leaving England with the rest of the day and the following day to hold out against the West Indian attack. The match ended in a draw.
