INTRODUCTION: Wales, already the leading Rugby Union team in the United Kingdom, took a step towards Rugby League supremacy as well on Saturday (29 January) when they beat England by six points to two. The match was played on a Headingly, Leeds, pitch still frozen by cold weather that swept across the northern part of England. A combination of hard ground and cold hands frustrated a number of scoring chances in the first half, but Wales gradually gained control of the match in the second half. The BBC's Eddie Waring describes highlights of the match.
