  • Description

After weeks of self doubt and recriminations the World Cup is drawing to a close with the two finalists decided. On Sunday West Germany and Holland meet in the Munich stadium and on past results there's little separating them.

The two teams won their last matches in groups A and B on Wednesday night and on Thursday it was time for reflection and light training. It was also time for scare tactics.

The West Germans had a light run and then let it be known they had detected flaws in Holland's play after watching a film of their match against Brazil. Holland beat Brazil two-nil, but according to the West Germans the Dutch have flags in defence.

The biggest problem facing Holland is the injury to Rob Rensenbrink who was taken off in the match against Brazil. His chances of playing in the final are very small.

West Germany last won the World Cup 20 years ago. Sunday will be the fist time Holland have made the final.

SYNOPSIS: It was that morning after the night before feeling for the Dutch World Cup team on Thursday. After beating the title holders Brazil the night before, the players were allowed to relax and many didn't go to bed before two in the morning. Some we nursing bruises received in the clash which put the Dutch into the final against West Germany. Security was tight at the training camp in Hiltrup as the players had a very light run.

The main problem left after the match against Brazil is the injury to Rob Rensenbrink. He didn't train with the rest of the team and is given only a 10 percent chance of playing in the final on Sunday. Otherwise the team is fully recovered from a particularly brutal match against the former title holders.

There was no relaxation for the West Germans after their match against Poland, which they won to go into the final. Police surrounded their training came near munich as the team had a t???ining run.

The players were happy to sign autographs, but police were never far away. The West Germans were in high spirits and are confident they can win the World Cup for the first time since 1954 when they beast Hungary in the final.

After viewing a film of Holland's win over Brazil, the West Germans say they've found flaws in the Dutch defence. It's probably part of their psychological warfare against the Dutch, but they have the experience which may make the difference on Sunday.
