    Relatives of former Jordanian Prime Minister Mohammed Daoud on Thursday carried his body across the Allenby Bridge into Israeli-held territory -- with special permission from the Israeli authorities. Brigadier Daoud is to be buried near his former home in Silwan Village, East Jerusalem.

    Visnews cameraman Rolf Kneller filmed the scene at the Allenby Bridge. An ambulance brought the coffin to the Jordanian side of the river. The casket was then carried across the bridge under arrangements made by the International Red Cross and transferred to another ambulance on the Israeli side.

    SYNOPSIS: Brigadier Daoud's brother was among the relatives waiting to continue the journey past Israeli checkpoints. It w??? the first time that vehicles with Jordanian licence plates had been permitted to travel into Israeli-held territory. Brigadier Daoud had sufferer a brain haemorrhage in Libya, where he had sought asylum after fleeing from Jordan. Earlier, he became Jordanian Prime Minister on the eve of heavy fighting between government troops and Palestinian commandos in September, 19??? He returned to Jordan shortly before his death.

    So Brigadier Daoud had returned to a final resting place at his former home in Silwan Village, East Jerusalem. He buried there on Friday, after a funeral service in the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
