    Malagasy Foreign Minister Albert Sylla, killed in an air crash on Wednesday, was buried with full military honours in Tananarive yesterday. His coffin led a procession of family friends, government ministers and diplomats through the streets of the Malagasy capital to the Roman Catholic Cathedral.

    M.Sylla's widow, veiled in black lace, walked directly behind the green and white military hearse, together with Malagasy's President Philibert Tsiranana and his wife.

    Among the foreign dignitaries attending the funeral were M.Yvon Bourges, Secretary of State at the French Foreign Ministry and Ivory Coast Information Minister Ekra Mathieu.

    After a funeral service at the cathedral, M.Sylla's body was carried to the ceremony at Anjanahary, where he was buried.

    French Ambassador to Malagasy, M.Alain Plantey paid tribute to M.Sylla on behalf of the Diplomatic Corps, and President Tsiranana added his tribute.

    M.Sylla as one of 41 people killed when a DC-4 airliner crashed into a swamp soon after taking off from Tananarives's new Ivato airport. There were 35 survivors.
