  • Description

Since the time as man turned his eyes to heaven he saw only one side of the Moon. And now something has occurred that even Jules Verne could not imagine it to take place. For the first time people got the chance to see the hidden side of the Earth's eternal satellite. The Soviet automatic interplanetary station took photographs of that party of the Moon invisible from the earth and transmitted the image from the depths of the cosmos to the earth with the help of television equipment. The objects photographed have already received their names. Among them is the Sea of Moscow... the craters Tsiolkovsky... Lomonosov... Joliot-Curie... Sea of Dreams and others. Alexander Mikhailov, Director of the Pulkovo Observatory, had this to say on the matter ... (synchronized). The news of the brilliant achievement of Soviet scientists spread all over the country with the speed of lightning. The historic photograph has been published by newspapers of the whole world... Mankind is witness to an unparalleled feat of Soviet science and engineering.
