Background: A public demonstration of the solidarity that exists between King Saud of Arabia and his Crown Prince, Faisal, and the Council of Ministers was seen on May 27th, when Prince Faisal flew to Dhahran Airport and then drove to the nearby hospital, where the King is undergoing a medical check-up.
With the ministers, the Crown Prince recited the Oath of Allegiance to the King and their religion. Afterwards he kissed Saud's hand. Whether this demonstration is intended to show neighbouring countries that Saudi Arabia does not contemplate amalgamation with any other state, or whether Prince Faisal and the Council of Ministers felt it advisable to show the King that they were faithful to him is not known, in outside circles. But many observers take it to be a rebuke to those writers and propagandists who see a rift between the King and the Crown Prince.
