  • Description

Just two years after the revolution, Hungary has gone to the polls to elect representatives to Parliament, People's District and Local Councils, Nov. 16. The list of nominated and Government backed candidates was unopposed.

The new Parliament will be larger than the last. There will be 338 deputies compared with 298. Fifty per cent of the seats will be occupied by industrial workers, sixteen per cent by agricultural workers and the rest by members of the intelligentsia and private farmers.

The only means of showing opposition to the nominees is to cross out the name or spoil the ballot paper.

Whatever the outcome of the elections, Dr. Munnich, the Premier, has stated that it will in no way affect the composition of the Government.
